Diabetes Prevention Program

Have you ever been told you have prediabetes? Or that you are at risk for type 2 diabetes? If so, did you know that you can still prevent diabetes?

The Diabetes Prevention Program is part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Participants will meet virtually once a week where they will learn how to make lifestyle changes to prevent diabetes. In the sessions, participants will learn how to:

  • Eat healthy and lose weight
  • Get active and keep moving
  • Change unhealthy habits into more healthy habits
  • Support each other and learn tips for staying on track

Exercise and Line Dancing Classes

  • Cardio-Dance featuring Mixxedfit with Sav: Mondays 1pm - 2pm & Tuesdays 12pm - 1pm
  • Line-Dancing featuring Spirit Feet 2nd Tuesday and 4th Thursday of the Month 5 pm -6 pm

To promote good health for people of all ages and all stages, The Community Health Education Center is offering a variety of in-person exercise classes to the local community and UMMS team members. All classes are free of charge.

These 60-minute classes are designed to get your heart rate up and boost cardio endurance. All fitness levels are welcome.

Classes will be held in the Community Health Education Center in the Midtown Outpatient Tower, (800 Linden Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21201). Pre-registration is required as spots are limited. Face masks are required.

Living Well with High Blood Pressure

This two hour class is for people with high blood pressure who want to manage and learn more about how to better control their high blood pressure. During this workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Take your own blood pressure
  • Eat healthy
  • Identify salty foods and how to avoid them
  • Take your medications correctly
  • Know your numbers for a healthy lifestyle
