Mechanism of Action:

Topical: Urea softens hyperkeratotic areas by dissolving the intracellular matrix, resulting in loosening the horny layer of the skin, or softening and debridement of the nail plate

Vaginal: Urea aids in debridement, promotes epithelialization and prevents excessive tissue formation

Dosage:

Adults:

Hyperkeratotic conditions, dry skin: Topical: Apply 1-3 times/day

Cervicitis: Vaginal: Insert 1 applicatorful in vagina at bedtime for 2-4 weeks

Patient Education:

Topical: For external use only. Best effect is obtained when applied to skin while still wet or moist after washing or bathing. Do not apply to broken, inflamed, or infected skin. Do not use near eyes. Report skin redness, irritation, or worsening of condition. Pregnancy/breast-feeding precautions: Inform prescriber if you are or intend to become pregnant. Consult prescriber if breast-feeding.

Vaginal: Wash hands before using. At bedtime, apply contents of 1 applicatorful gently into vagina. Remain lying down for 30 minutes following administration. Wash applicator with soap and water following use. Report if condition worsens or does not improve.
