The Department of Anesthesiology provides clinical anesthesia services and critical care management of surgical and obstetric patients throughout the University of Maryland Medical Center 24 hours a day.

The department offers post-surgical pain control services and manages patients with chronic and acute pain.

Intraoperative electrophysiologic monitoring, including EEG, sensory and motor evoked potentials, EMG
Acute pain management, including patient controlled analgesia, continuous epidural infusion, and other procedures as necessary
Chronic pain management, including interdisciplinary evaluation, diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks, epidural steroids, transcutaneous nerve stimulation, and implantable pumps
