Theodore Woodward, of Baltimore, is the recipient of the 1997 John P. McGovern Compleat Physician Award. The honor is presented annually by the Houston Academy of Medicine to recognize a physician whose career has been founded on the Oslerian ideals of medical excellence, humane and ethical care, commitment to medical humanities and writing, research, and harmony between the academician and medical practitioner. James Roberts, of Berlin, Md., announces that arrangements are being made for the 52nd reunion of the Class of 1946, to be held from Oct. 4 to 9, 1998 in Ocean City, Md. Byers, of Friendswood, Texas, received the chief of staff distinguished service award as 1996 Physician of the Year at the Mainland Center Hospital in Texas City. Dr. Byers serves as the hospitals director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and is also engaged in the private practice of cardiology. Arthur O. Anderson, of Frederick, Md., was one of four speakers at a University of Maryland Immunology Group Minisymposium, entitled "Cellular Trafficking in the Immune System," on Nov. 6 in Davidge Hall. It was the first time he had visited Davidge Hall since Match Day in 1970. Edwin A. Dietch, of Short Hills, N.J., is currently serving as president of the American Burn Association. Dr. Deitch is professor of surgery and chairman of the department of surgery at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. Pictured: Edwin A. Liang, of Atlanta, traveled to Moscow to conduct training in applied epidemiology in collaboration with Russian epidemiologists at the Ministry of Health. Arno L. Zaritsky, of Virginia Beach, Va., is interim chairman and a professor in the department of pediatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Julius Edlavitch, a pediatrician at Fridley Childrens Hospital, Fridley, Minn., established a first-of-its-kind International Pediatric Chat Line at http://users.aol.com/pedschat/pediatrics. Paula Ehrlich, of Silver Spring, Md., and her husband, Samuel Agger, announce the birth of their fifth child, Joseph Edward, on Jan. 2. Harry S. Strothers III, of Atlanta, is associate chairman and interim clinical services director of the department of family medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine, where he remains associate professor and residency program director of the department. His most recent publication, "The Relationship Between Ethnicity and Advance Directives in a Frail Elderly Population," appeared in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society in August 1996. Jennifer Corder, and her husband, Robert, M.D. 96, of Crownsville, Md., say they enjoy the Universitys homepage on the World Wide Web. They had their third child, Adam, on Oct. 31, 1996. Jennifer enjoys her flexible schedule as a pediatrician at North Arundel Hospital and Robert is serving an emergency medicine residency at UMMS. Mindi Meltzer Roeser, of Philadelphia, gave birth to her second child, a daughter named Abigail, in February 1997. She continues to work as an emergency room attending at Pennsylvania Hospital.
