Central Maryland Radiation Oncology in Howard County offers the advanced radiation therapies usually only available through a large university cancer center, with the convenience of a local community practice.

We are affiliated with the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center (UMGCC), a partnership that sets us apart from other community-based radiation oncology centers.

Our patients benefit from all of the resources and expertise of UMGCC, while staying right here in Howard County.

Our Services

Our center offers patients with all types and stages of cancer both traditional radiation oncology services, and new cutting-edge therapies such as Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and prostate brachytherapy.

Telemedicine Technology

Our physicians work closely with cancer experts at UMGCC's downtown Baltimore campus. Using the latest teleconferencing technology, our physicians review patient cases weekly with UMGCC oncology specialists to evaluate and consider all treatment options available here as well as at UMGCC. In this way, we offer patients the best, most comprehensive cancer care possible.

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are studies designed to find new and better ways to treat patients with cancer. Through clinical trials, scientists and physicians at the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center are breaking new ground in the development of cancer treatments.

Access to clinical trials is an important advantage of receiving your radiation therapy at Central Maryland Radiation Oncology. We offer patients access to many of the 125 clinical trials currently being conducted at UMGCC. In this way, our patients may be eligible for new treatments not yet commercially available elsewhere. Our staff research associate coordinates clinical trial participation for those patients who are interested.

Support Services

Also offer a variety of support services, such as genetic counseling, to help patients through their cancer care. Genetic counseling consultations are provided free of charge.

Treatment Team

Dr. Sally Cheston

Drs. Sally Cheston and Jeanette Linder are
radiation oncologists at Central Maryland
Radiation Oncology in Howard County.

Sally B. Cheston, M.D., is medical director of the Central Maryland Radiation Oncology and assistant professor of radiation oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She has particular interest in breast cancer and new applications of IMRT.

Dr. Cheston earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she also completed her residency and fellowship in radiation oncology. A native of Anne Arundel County, Dr. Cheston lives in southern Anne Arundel County with her husband and three children.

Dr. Jeanette Linder

Jeanette Linder, M.D., assistant professor of radiation oncology, specializes in radiation treatment of prostate cancer.

She performed her residency and fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical Center after graduating from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Linder lives in Edgewater, Maryland, with her husband and daughter.

Directions

From Baltimore:

Take Baltimore Beltway 695 to Exit 16 - Route 70 West toward Frederick (This exit is after Security Boulevard.)
Exit at Route 29 South - toward Columbia.
Continue on Route 29 to Exit 18 - Columbia Town Center. Upon exiting, stay in the left lane and turn left at first light onto Broken Land Parkway.
At second traffic light, turn left onto Little Patuxent Parkway.
Continue on Little Patuxent Parkway for approximately 1 mile.
Central Maryland Radiation Oncology will be on your left.

From Baltimore taking 95 South:

Take 95 South to Exit 38-B - Route 32 West.
Follow Route 32 to exit 17 for Cedar Lane. Upon exiting, bear right onto Cedar Lane.
Continue on Cedar Lane (approximately 2.5 miles) - after the third traffic light, stay in right lane
Turn right on Little Patuxent Parkway.

From Washington, D.C., and Points South:

Take Route 95 North or Route 29 North from the Beltway 495 to exit 38B for Route 32 West towards Columbia.
Follow Route 32 to exit 17 for Cedar Lane. Upon exiting, bear right onto Cedar Lane.
Continue on Cedar Lane (approximately 2.5 miles) - after the third traffic light, stay in right lane.
Turn right at Little Patuxent Parkway.

From Annapolis and Points East:

Take Route 50 West to Exit 21 for Interstate 97 North.
Follow Interstate 97 to Exit 7 Route 32 West towards Columbia.
Follow Route 32 to exit 17 for Cedar Lane. Upon exiting, bear right onto Cedar Lane.
Continue on Cedar Lane (approximately 2.5 miles) - after the third traffic light, stay in right lane.
Turn right at Little Patuxent Parkway.

From Frederick and Western Maryland:

Take Route 70 East towards Baltimore.
Bear right onto 32 East towards Columbia.
Follow Route 32 to Exit 17 for Cedar Lane. At the light, turn left onto Cedar Lane.
Continue on Cedar Lane (approximately 2.5 miles) - after the third traffic light, stay in right lane.
Turn right at Little Patuxent Parkway.
