Search Engine Optimization Contest May Pay Off for the Center for Celiac Research

The University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research is in the running for a $7,000 prize in a Search Engine Optimization Contest. Alek Komarnitsky, a UM Center for Celiac Research donor from Colorado, has entered his Web site in the contest and has designated the Center as the beneficiary if he wins.

Komarnitsky entered his web site, http://www.watching-paint-dry.com/v7ndotcom-elursrebmem, within minutes after the contest started in January. The winner is determined by whoever ranks first in Google for the nonsense search phrase “V7ndotcom Elursrebmem” on May 15, when the contest ends. Currently, Komarnitsky is ranked fifth out of over six million results.

Komarnitksy’s two children suffer from Celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder triggered by gluten, which is found in wheat, barley and rye. “This is not a food allergy, which you can grow out of, but an autoimmune disorder like diabetes,” says Komarnitsky. “Celiac is often undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, so raising awareness and funds for groundbreaking research is one reason I’m doing this contest. Plus, I’d love to see a cure for Celiac so that I can have a beer and pizza with my kids when they grow up.”

To help Komarnitsky in his quest to win the Google contest and win for $7,000 for the CFCR, consider linking to his website from your website. His odds of winning the contest improve as the number of other sites linked to his increase. His site can be accessed at http://www.watching-paint-dry.com/v7ndotcom-elursrebmem. Linked sites need to list the nonsense words v7ndotcom elursrebmem.
