What is Community Empowerment? | What is a Community Benefit? | Volunteerism at UMMC | Understanding the Diverse Needs of the Community
While not counted within the community benefit report to the state, UMMC employees volunteer in countless ways in the community. In a recent survey, 200 employees reported that they spent an average of 1-2 hours per week in community-based organizations, healthcare, or religious-sponsored volunteer activities. This adds up to 20,800 hours of volunteer service provided by these 200 employees alone, which translates to an additional 10 FTEs for the benefit of the community.
