Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Fellowship Program

Cardiothoracic Radiology Fellowship

The integrated Cardiothoracic Radiology Fellowship offers training in plain film, chest CT, and MR imaging, as well as CT-guided lung and mediastinal biopsies. The fellowship also provides thorough training in cardiac CT and cardiac MR imaging and use of workstations. Special opportunities include sectional journal clubs and visits to the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology for dedicated radiology/pathology sessions. Five thoracic fellowship–trained radiologists supervise the clinical and research experience.

The patient population at the University of Maryland offers a wide range of pathology, through an 800-bed acute care hospital and tertiary referral center, the Greenebaum Cancer Center, Shock Trauma Center, and a 300-bed state-of-the-art Veterans Affairs medical center with a PACS system connected to the main hospital.

Ample experience is provided for thoracic diagnosis and intervention. Academic support for clinical and research investigation is provided. Multidisciplinary conferences are held weekly with pulmonary medicine, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, and thoracic oncology.
