Residents are evaluated by the faculty at the end of each rotation. A compilation of these evaluations is supplied to the residents during personal semiannual meetings with the program director. Residents are required to take the American College of Radiology In-Service Training Examination yearly. Anonymous written evaluation of the program and the faculty is solicited from the residents semiannually.
Residents in all University of Maryland programs receive a standard stipend based on their postgraduate year and a standard set of benefits. Fringe benefits include the following: 3 weeks vacation leave per year plus several extra days during the Christmas/New Year period; up to 5 days sick leave per year, health and dental insurance subsidized by the employer, employer-paid life insurance, employer-paid short- and long-term disability insurance, and paid parking. All residents may receive laundry service.

All University of Maryland residents and fellows are provided professional liability coverage through the Maryland Medical Center Insurance Program for activities performed on behalf of UMMS while working within the scope of employment, performed within the delineation of clinical privileges and in accordance with specified terms and conditions of coverage.
Coverage provided annually for malpractice is an Occurrence Policy: $5 million/$20 million.
Attendance at radiologic society meetings and postgraduate courses is supported financially up to $2,000 in the third or fourth year of the program. Up to $2,000 may be used for the purchase of books in lieu of this meeting support. Additional funds are available in any year for presentation of research papers that are submitted for publication in a juried journal. The department also pays the full cost associated with the American Board of Radiology exams.
