Biography:Dr. Simon recently joined the University of Maryland from Dartmouth School of Medicine to develop clinical and research programs in pulmonary rehabilitation and chronic ventilator weaning at University Specialty Hospital. She had previously developed pulmonary rehabilitation programs at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Her research has focused on the respiratory control system responses to mechanical ventilation, including effects of wakefulness, sleep and neuromechanical influences on patient- ventilator interactions.
