Actinomycosis

Signs and tests:

Examination of drained fluid under a microscope shows "sulfur granules" in the fluid. They are yellowish granules composed of clumped organisms.

Actinomyces
species of bacteria

A culture of the tissue or fluid shows
Actinomyces
species.
