Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT)

The formal name of the medical specialty better known as ear, nose and throat (or ENT) is otorhinolaryngology - head and neck surgery.

While that may be a bit hard to pronounce, it reflects the remarkable breadth of this branch of medicine. Our specialists medically and surgically treat conditions ranging from cancer and trauma to infection and inflammatory diseases.

What an Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor Treats

Our faculty physicians diagnose and treat patients with ear, nose and throat disorders. This includes advanced cancers and other complex conditions of the throat, mouth, voice box, sinuses and salivary glands.

While the name of the specialty may seem self-explanatory at first, the issues affecting the ear, nose and throat encompasses a broad spectrum.

Ear

ENTs specialize in both the medical and surgical treatment of hearing and balance disorders, ear infections, facial and cranial nerve disorders and more.

Nose

Management and treatment of chronic sinusitis is a common job for ear, nose and throat specialists. Our team also diagnoses, manages and treats allergies, smell disorders, polyps and deviated septums.

Throat

The throat serves as a passageway for air and food but also houses the larynx, or voice box. This means that ENTs might see patients for persistent sore throats, like tonsillitis, or treat voice and swallowing disorders, including larynx issues in vocal artists.

Head and Neck

Tumors in the head and neck area, both cancerous and non-cancerous, facial trauma and deformities of the head, neck and face are among the conditions that ENTs treat surgically.
