Primeros auxilios:

De ser posible, utilizar guantes al retirar las púas.
Retirar tentáculos o púas con una toalla.
Lavar el área con agua salada.
Sumergir la herida en agua tan caliente como el paciente pueda soportar durante 30 a 90 minutos, si así lo indica el personal capacitado.
En algunos casos de mordeduras y picaduras, se puede recomendar la aplicación de vinagre o una solución de agua con ablandador de carnes para neutralizar el veneno.

No se debe:

NO se debe tratar de sacar los aguijones del animal marino sin protegerse las manos.
NO se debe levantar la parte del cuerpo afectada por encima del nivel del corazón.
NO se debe permitir que el paciente haga ejercicio.
NO se debe dar ningún medicamento, a menos que así lo indique el médico.
