Síntomas:

Los síntomas varían de acuerdo con la causa del problema, pero algunos de ellos son comunes a todos los tipos de obstrucción de las vías respiratorias y abarcan:

Agitación o inquietud
Coloración azulada de la piel (cianosis)
Cambios en el estado de conciencia
Asfixia
Confusión
Dificultad para respirar
Jadear por falta de aire
Pánico
Pérdida del conocimiento
Sibilancias, gemidos, silbidos u otros ruidos inusuales de la respiración que indican dificultad para respirar

El examen físico puede mostrar:

Respiración rápida, superficial o lenta
