Prevención:

Se recomienda una vacuna anual contra la gripe para los bebés, los ancianos, las mujeres que pueden estar embarazadas durante la temporada gripal y aquellos que tengan ciertas afecciones crónicas. También se recomienda la vacuna para las personas que trabajan o viven con personas vulnerables.

Una nueva vacuna contra la gripe, en forma de aerosol nasal, llamada FluMist, está disponible para personas entre 5 y 49 años. FluMist usa un virus vivo debilitado en vez de un virus muerto como en la vacuna antigripal inyectable. En un estudio, el aerosol nasal brindó protección contra la gripe en hasta 93% de los niños.
