Neumonía por micoplasma - Treatment

Tratamiento:

Los antibióticos que funcionan contra el micoplasma abarcan macrólidos, quinolonas y tetraciclinas. Usted puede tomar estas medidas en casa:

  • Controlar su fiebre con ácido acetilsalicílico (aspirin), medicamentos antinflamatorios no esteroides (AINES, como ibuprofeno o naproxeno) o paracetamol. No les dé ácido acetilsalicílico a los niños.
  • No tomar antitusígenos sin hablar primero con su médico. Pueden dificultar la expectoración del esputo adicional.
  • Tomar bastantes líquidos para ayudar a aflojar las secreciones y sacar la flema.
  • Descansar mucho. Procure que otra persona realice las tareas domésticas.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La mayoría de las personas se recupera completamente incluso sin antibióticos, aunque éstos pueden acelerar dicho proceso de recuperación. En adultos que no reciben tratamiento, la tos y la debilidad pueden persistir hasta por un mes.

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Solicite una cita con el médico si presenta fiebre, tos o dificultad para respirar. Aunque hay numerosas causas para estos síntomas, es necesario que le hagan un chequeo en búsqueda de neumonía.

Igualmente, consulte si le han diagnosticado este tipo de neumonía y los síntomas empeoran.
