Psitacosis

Definición:

Es una infección causada por la Chlamydia psittaci, un tipo de bacterias que se encuentran en los excrementos de pájaros, los cuales le transmiten la infección a los humanos.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La psitacosis es una enfermedad rara, de la cual se han notificado menos de 50 casos en los Estados Unidos en los últimos 5 años.

Los propietarios de aves, los empleados de las tiendas de mascotas, los trabajadores de las plantas de procesamiento de carne de aves y los veterinarios son las personas que tienen un mayor riesgo de adquirir esta infección.
