Prevención:

Si usted tiene un sistema inmunitario debilitado y está en el hospital, puede recibir antibióticos diariamente para prevenir la neumonía.

Pregúntele al médico si debe recibir la vacuna contra la influenza ("gripe") y la vacuna antineumocócica (neumonía).

Practique la buena higiene y lave completamente sus manos con agua y jabón:

Después de estar al aire libre
Después de cambiar un pañal
Después de realizar las tareas domésticas
Después de ir al baño
Después de tocar líquidos corporales, como moco o sangre
Después de usar el teléfono
Antes de manipular alimento o comer

Mantenga su casa limpia. Aléjese de las multitudes. Pídales a los visitantes que tengan un resfriado que se pongan una máscara o que no lo visiten. No realice trabajos en el jardín ni manipule plantas o flores (éstas pueden transportar gérmenes).
