Blastomicosis

Tratamiento:
En los casos de infección por blastomicosis que permanece en los pulmones, es posible que no se necesiten medicamentos, a menos que se torne grave. Cuando la enfermedad se ha diseminado por fuera de los pulmones o presenta un estado grave, se pueden prescribir los siguientes medicamentos (antimicóticos):
- Itraconazol
- Fluconazol
- Ketoconazol
La amfotericina B se puede usar para las infecciones graves.
Se recomienda hacer revisiones periódicas con el médico para garantizar que la enfermedad no aparezca de nuevo.
Expectativas (pronóstico):
Los pacientes con ulceraciones (lesiones) cutáneas menores e infecciones pulmonares relativamente leves en general se recuperan por completo. Si la infección no se trata, puede tornarse bastante grave como para causar la muerte.
Complicaciones:
- Grandes úlceras con pus (abscesos)
- Reaparición de la infección (recaÃda de la enfermedad)
- Efectos secundarios desagradables de medicamentos como la amfotericina B

Se debe buscar asistencia médica si aparecen sÃntomas de blastomicosis.
