Tratamiento:

No existe un tratamiento específico para el síndrome de Caplan.

Grupos de apoyo:

La asistencia a grupos de apoyo con otras personas que tienen enfermedades similares puede ayudar al paciente a comprender la enfermedad y adaptarse a su tratamiento y otros cambios en el estilo de vida.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

El síndrome de Caplan rara vez produce problemas respiratorios o discapacidad graves, pero puede incrementar el riesgo de tuberculosis (TB). Las personas que lo padecen deben ser examinadas en búsqueda de exposición a la tuberculosis.

Complicaciones:

  • Efectos secundarios de los medicamentos
  • Aumento del riesgo de tuberculosis
  • Fibrosis masiva y progresiva (cicatrización)
