Prevención:

Las vacunas pueden ayudar a prevenir la neumonía en los niños, los ancianos y personas con diabetes, asma, enfisema, VIH, cáncer u otras afecciones crónicas:

Respirar profundamente puede ayudar a prevenir la neumonía si la persona está hospitalizada, por ejemplo, mientras se recupera de una cirugía. A menudo, se suministra un dispositivo de respiración para ayudar en la respiración profunda.

Por otro lado, si la persona tiene cáncer o VIH, debe hablar con el médico acerca de las formas adicionales de prevenir la neumonía.
