Prevención:
Los médicos pueden prescribir anticoagulantes para ayudar a prevenir la trombosis venosa profunda en personas de alto riesgo o personas que se van a someter a procedimientos quirúrgicos de alto riesgo. Para ayudar a prevenir este tipo de trombosis, se recomienda mover las piernas con frecuencia durante los viajes largos en avión, en automóvil, y en otras situaciones en las cuales la persona permanece sentada o acostada por perÃodos de tiempo prolongados.
