Aneurisma aórtico abdominal - Overview

Aneurisma aórtico; AAA

Definición:

Un aneurisma aórtico abdominal se presenta cuando el vaso sanguíneo grande que irriga el abdomen, la pelvis y las piernas se agranda o se ensancha anormalmente hacia afuera.

Causas:

Se desconoce la causa exacta, pero los factores de riesgo para desarrollar un aneurisma aórtico abarcan:

Tabaquismo
Hipertensión arterial
Colesterol alto
Sexo masculino
Enfisema
Factores genéticos
Obesidad

Un aneurisma aórtico abdominal se puede presentar en cualquier persona, aunque se observa con más frecuencia en hombres mayores de 60 años que tengan uno o más factores de riesgo. Cuanto más grande sea el aneurisma, mayor será la probabilidad de que se presente ruptura.
