Cardiopatía hipertensiva - Prevention

Prevención:

Hágase chequeos periódicos de la presión arterial (con la frecuencia recomendada por el médico), para vigilar la afección. A menudo, se recomiendan las mediciones de la presión en el hogar para personas con hipertensión arterial difícil de controlar.

Hágase tratar hipertensión arterial. No suspenda ni cambie el tratamiento, a menos que así lo haya aconsejado el médico.

Controle cuidadosamente la diabetes, la hiperlipidemia y otras afecciones que aumentan el riesgo de una cardiopatía.

Además de los medicamentos, los cambios recomendados en el estilo de vida abarcan:

  • Cambios en la dieta:
    • evitar las grasas saturadas y las grasas trans
    • incrementar el consumo de frutas, verduras y productos lácteos bajos en grasa
    • reducir el consumo de sal (puede ser benéfico)
    • comer granos integrales, carne de aves y pescado
  • Hacer ejercicio de manera regular
  • Reducir el consumo de cantidades excesivas de alcohol
  • Dejar de fumar, ya que el consumo de cigarrillos es una causa importante de cardiopatía relacionada con hipertensión
  • Bajar de peso si tiene sobrepeso o está obeso
