Pericarditis después de un ataque cardíaco - Treatment

Tratamiento:

El objetivo del tratamiento es hacer que el corazón trabaje mejor, al igual que reducir el dolor y otros síntomas.

Se pueden emplear el ácido acetilsalicílico (aspirin) o antinflamatorios no esteroides (AINES) para tratar la inflamación del pericardio. Por lo regular, el ácido acetilsalicílico, incluso en altas dosis, se prefiere en la pericarditis temprana postinfarto al miocardio. En casos extremos, cuando otros medicamentos no funcionan, se pueden utilizar los esteroides o la colchicina.

En algunos casos, es posible que sea necesario remover el exceso de líquido alrededor del corazón (derrame pericárdico), lo cual se hace con un procedimiento denominado pericardiocentesis. En caso de presentarse complicaciones, se puede requerir la extirpación de parte del pericardio con cirugía (pericardiectomía).

Expectativas (pronóstico):

La afección puede reaparecer, incluso en personas que reciben tratamiento. En algunos casos, la pericarditis sin tratamiento es potencialmente mortal.
