Insuficiencia tricuspídea
El tratamiento oportuno de trastornos que puedan causar valvulopatía reduce el riesgo de regurgitación tricuspídea. Las infecciones por estreptococos se deben tratar oportunamente para evitar la fiebre reumática.
Cualquier procedimiento invasivo, incluyendo limpieza y trabajos dentales, puede introducir bacterias en el torrente sanguíneo. Las bacterias pueden infectar una válvula mitral dañada, ocasionando endocarditis. Coméntele siempre al médico y al odontólogo si tiene antecedentes de valvulopatía cardíaca o de cardiopatía antes del tratamiento. Tomar antibióticos antes de un procedimiento dental u otros procedimientos invasivos puede disminuir el riesgo de endocarditis.
