Tratamiento:

Es posible que no se necesite tratamiento si se presentan pocos síntomas o ninguno, pero se requiere hospitalización para el diagnóstico y tratamiento de síntomas graves. Los trastornos subyacentes deben identificarse y tratarse. También puede ser necesario practicar una cirugía para restaurar o reemplazar la válvula tricúspide.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

El problema puede corregirse con el tratamiento de los problemas subyacentes, en especial, el tratamiento de hipertensión pulmonar y el agrandamiento ventricular derecho. Por lo general, la reparación quirúrgica o la valvuloplastia curan el problema; sin embargo, las personas con regurgitación tricuspídea grave, que no pueda ser corregida, pueden tener un pronóstico desalentador.
