Pericarditis bacteriana - Treatment

Pericarditis purulenta

Tratamiento:

El objetivo del tratamiento es curar la infección.

Los medicamentos abarcan:

  • Antibióticos para tratar infecciones bacterianas
  • Analgésicos para aliviar el dolor
  • Ácido acetilsalicílico (aspirin), ibuprofeno u otros medicamentos antinflamatorios no esteroides (AINES) con el fin de aliviar la inflamación del pericardio
  • Diuréticos para eliminar el exceso de líquidos

El descanso en la cama con la cabecera levantada puede reducir la carga de trabajo del corazón.

Otros tratamientos abarcan:

  • Hacer un pequeño agujero (ventana) en el pericardio (pericardiotomía subxifoide) para permitir que el líquido infectado drene.
  • Drenar líquido del saco pericárdico ( pericardiocentesis) para prevenir o tratar el taponamiento cardíaco.
  • Corte o extirpación parcial del pericardio (pericardiectomía quirúrgica) si la pericarditis bacteriana es crónica o reaparece.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Esta enfermedad puede ser potencialmente mortal sin tratamiento. El pronóstico es bueno si la pericarditis bacteriana se trata oportunamente y la mayoría de las personas se recupera por completo.
