Siga el tratamiento recomendado por el médico para afecciones que pueden ocasionar valvulopatía y trate a tiempo las infecciones ocasionadas por estreptococos para prevenir la fiebre reumática. Coméntele al médico si tiene antecedentes familiares de cardiopatías congénitas.
La estenosis mitral en sí a menudo no se puede prevenir, pero sí sus complicaciones. Infórmele al médico acerca de cualquier valvulopatía cardíaca antes de recibir cualquier tratamiento médico.
