Prevención:

El tratamiento inmediato de trastornos causales reduce el riesgo de regurgitación mitral. El paciente debe estar seguro de no tener antecedentes de valvulopatía cardíaca o de cardiopatía congénita antes de someterse a un tratamiento odontológico o médico.
