Insuficiencia venosa

Es una afección en la cual las venas tienen problemas para enviar la sangre de nuevo desde las piernas al corazón.

La insuficiencia venosa compromete una o más venas. Las válvulas en las venas usualmente conducen el flujo de la sangre hacia el corazón; cuando estas válvulas están lesionadas, la sangre se filtra y se estanca en las piernas y en los pies. Esta afección también puede ser causada por una obstrucción en una vena a raÃz de un coágulo (trombosis venosa profunda).
La insuficiencia venosa crónica es una afección prolongada y su aparición se debe a la obstrucción parcial de las venas o a las filtraciones de sangre alrededor de las válvulas venosas.
