Estenosis esofágica benigna - Overview

Definición:

Es un estrechamiento del esófago (el conducto que va de la boca al estómago) que ocasiona dificultad para deglutir.

Benigna significa que no es causada por cáncer. Ver también: cáncer del esófago

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La estenosis esofágica puede ser causada por:

  • Reflujo gastroesofágico (ERGE)
  • Lesiones causadas por un endoscopio
  • Uso prolongado de una sonda nasogástrica (un tubo que pasa a través de la nariz hasta el estómago)
  • Ingestión de sustancias que dañan el revestimiento del esófago, como limpiadores de uso doméstico, agua alcalina, pilas de botón o ácido de batería
  • Tratamiento de várices esofágicas
