La hepatitis crónica persistente puede ser causada por hepatitis B ( VHB ), hepatitis C ( VHC ), hepatitis D (VHD), enfermedades autoinmunes como el lupus , diversos medicamentos o una causa desconocida (criptogénica). La mayorÃa de las personas no tienen sÃntomas.
Los factores de riesgo abarcan la hepatitis viral previa, desarrollar lupus u otra enfermedad autoinmune, asà como tomar ciertos medicamentos.
