Estenosis de las vías biliares

Tratamiento:

Se necesita la cirugía (dilatación endoscópica o percutánea) para corregir el estrechamiento y su objetivo es reestablecer el flujo de bilis del hígado al intestino. Dependiendo de su localización, la estenosis se puede extirpar quirúrgicamente y la vía biliar se puede reconectar al intestino delgado o al conducto hepático.

En algunos pacientes, se coloca un stent (endoprótesis) a través de la estenosis de la vía biliar para mantenerla abierta.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

El tratamiento suele tener éxito.

Complicaciones:

La inflamación recurrente de la vía biliar y la estenosis pueden ocurrir en algunos pacientes. Los pacientes están en riesgo de desarrollar infección sobre la estenosis y las estenosis que duran mucho tiempo pueden llevar a que se presente cirrosis.

Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:

Se debe acudir al médico si reaparecen los síntomas después de una pancreatitis, una colecistectomía u otra cirugía biliar.
