Helicobacter pylori - Treatment

Gastritis por Helicobacter pylori; H. pylori

Tratamiento:

Los pacientes con H. pylori que también tengan una úlcera son los que probablemente se beneficien más del tratamiento, mientras que los pacientes que sólo presenten acidez gástrica o reflujo de ácido y H. pylori tendrán menos probabilidad de tal beneficio. El tratamiento no funciona en todos los pacientes.

El tratamiento se debe tomar durante 10 a 14 días y los medicamentos pueden abarcar:

  • Dos antibióticos diferentes como claritromicina (Biaxin), amoxicilina, tetraciclina o metronidazol (Flagyl)
  • Inhibidores de la bomba de protones tales como omeprazol (Prilosec), lansoprazol (Prevacid) o esomeprazol (Nexium)
  • Subsalicilato de bismuto (Pepto-Bismol), en algunos casos

Pronóstico:

Una vez que la bacteria H. pylori sale del cuerpo, la posibilidad de resultar infectado de nuevo es muy baja.

Posibles complicaciones:

La infección por H. pylori está ligada a la úlcera y al cáncer del estómago.

Cuándo contactar a un profesional médico:

Consulte con el médico si presenta sangre en las heces, dolor abdominal, indigestión o acidez gástrica continuas o cualquier otro síntoma mencionado anteriormente.

Busque ayuda médica inmediata si está vomitando sangre.
