Gastritis aguda

Tratamiento:
El tratamiento depende de la causa de la gastritis. Por lo general, los antiácidos y otros medicamentos que disminuyen o neutralizan el ácido gástrico en el estómago eliminan los sÃntomas y contribuyen a la curación. Se deben suspender los medicamentos que causan la gastritis. Puede existir una úlcera gástrica que requiera tratamiento.
La gastritis ocasionada por el estrés se trata mejor mediante la prevención. A los pacientes hospitalizados y sometidos a estrés se les deben suministrar medicamentos que disminuyan la producción de ácido gástrico tales como los inhibidores de la bomba de protones.
Expectativas (pronóstico):
La mayorÃa de las gastritis mejoran rápidamente con el tratamiento.
Complicaciones:
Una complicación potencial es la pérdida severa de sangre.
Situaciones que requieren asistencia médica:
Se debe buscar asistencia médica si los sÃntomas de gastritis persisten durante un perÃodo mayor a 2 ó 3 dÃas o si se presentan deposiciones o vómitos con sangre.
