Tratamiento:

Es posible que se requiera cirugía para extirpar los pólipos que causan problemas prolongados. Los suplementos del hierro ayudan a contrarrestar la pérdida de sangre.

Las personas que padecen esta afección deben ser monitoreadas por un médico y examinadas periódicamente en busca de cambios cancerosos en los pólipos.

Pronóstico:

Puede haber un riesgo significativo de que estos pólipos se vuelvan cancerosos. Algunos estudios vinculan este síndrome con los cánceres del tubo digestivo, el pulmón, las mamas, el útero y los ovarios

Posibles complicaciones:

  • Intususcepción (parte del intestino se introduce en sí mismo)
  • Pólipos que llevan a cáncer
  • Quistes ováricos
  • Tumores de los cordones sexuales

Solicite una cita con el médico si usted o su bebé presentan síntomas de esta afección. El dolor abdominal severo puede ser un signo de una situación de emergencia como la intususcepción.
