La prednisona y otros corticosteroides ayudan a reducir la inflamación. La azatioprina y la mercaptopurina son drogas que se utilizan para tratar otros trastornos inmunitarios y también han demostrado que ayudan a pacientes con hepatitis autoinmunitaria.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Los resultados varían. La terapia con corticosteroides puede retrasar el progreso de la enfermedad. Sin embargo, la hepatitis autoinmunitaria puede convertirse en cirrosis y requerir transplante de hígado.
