Colitis ulcerativa - Prevention

Enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal (colitis ulcerativa); EII (colitis ulcerativa)

Prevención:

Debido a que se desconoce la causa, también se desconoce la prevención.

Los antinflamatorios no esteroides (AINES) pueden empeorar los síntomas.

Debido al riesgo de desarrollar cáncer de colon asociado con la colitis ulcerativa, se recomienda realizar un examen con colonoscopia.

La Sociedad Estadounidense de Oncología (American Cancer Society) recomienda hacerse el primer examen de detección:

  • 8 años después del diagnóstico de enfermedad grave o cuando la mayor parte o todo el intestino grueso esté comprometido.
  • De 12 a 15 después del diagnóstico cuando únicamente el lado izquierdo del intestino grueso esté comprometido.

Hágase exámenes de control cada 1 a 2 años.
