Prevención:

La mayoría de los organismos infecciosos se transmiten por la falta de aseo de las manos. La mejor forma de prevención de la gastroenteritis viral es por medio de una adecuada manipulación de los alimentos y del lavado cuidadoso de las manos después de usar el baño.

RotaTeq es una vacuna utilizada para prevenir la gastroenteritis relacionada con el rotavirus en los bebés. Sin embargo, se ha informado de un problema intestinal serio, llamado intususcepción, en un pequeño número de bebés que recibieron esta vacuna. Se aconseja entonces llamar de inmediato al médico si el niño recibió esta vacuna y presenta dolor estomacal, vómitos, diarrea, sangre en las heces o un cambio en las deposiciones.
