Colecistitis aguda - Overview

Colecistitis de tipo agudo

Definición:

Es una inflamación repentina de la vesícula biliar que causa dolor abdominal intenso.

Causas:

En el 90% de los casos, la colecistitis aguda es causada por la presencia de cálculos biliares en la vesícula biliar. Una enfermedad grave y, en raras ocasiones, tumores de la vesícula biliar también la pueden causar.

La colecistitis aguda hace que la bilis quede atrapada en la vesícula. La acumulación de la bilis ocasiona irritación y presión en la vesícula, lo cual puede conducir a infección bacteriana y perforación del órgano.

Los cálculos biliares ocurren con más frecuencia en mujeres que en hombres y se vuelven más comunes con la edad en ambos sexos. La tasa de este tipo de cálculos es mayor en los aborígenes estadounidenses.
