Síntomas:
- Escalofríos
- Heces color arcilla
- Fiebre
- Picazón
- Inapetencia
- Dolor en el cuadrante superior derecho del abdomen que puede irradiarse a la espalda
- Pérdida de peso
- Amarillamiento de la piel (ictericia)
Signos y exámenes:
El médico llevará a cabo un examen físico. Se harán exámenes para verificar si hay un tumor u obstrucción en las vías biliares. Estos exámenes pueden abarcar:
- Tomografía computarizada del abdomen
- Ecografía abdominal
- Biopsia dirigida por tomografía computarizada
- Citología
- Colangiopancreatografía retrógrada endoscópica (CPRE)
- Colangiopancreatografía por resonancia magnética (CPRM)
- Colangiografía transhepática percutánea (PTCA, por sus siglas en inglés)
Los exámenes de sangre que se pueden hacer abarcan:
- Pruebas de la función hepática (especialmente niveles de fosfatasa alcalina o de bilirrubina)
