Gastroparesia - Overview

Vaciamiento gástrico retardado; Gastroparesia del diabético

Definición:

Es una enfermedad que reduce la capacidad del estómago para vaciar sus contenidos, sin que haya algún bloqueo (obstrucción).

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Se desconoce la causa de la gastroparesia, pero puede ser provocada por una interrupción de las señales nerviosas al intestino. Esta afección es una complicación común de la diabetes y puede ser una complicación de algunas cirugías.

Los factores de riesgo que predisponen a la gastroparesia abarcan:

  • Diabetes
  • Gastrectomía (cirugía para extirpar parte del estómago)
  • Esclerosis sistémica
  • Uso de medicamentos que bloquean ciertas señales nerviosas (medicamentos anticolinérgicos)
