Enteritis por radiación
Definición:
La enteritis por radiación es una hinchazón (inflamación) del revestimiento del intestino delgado debido a radioterapia, un tipo de tratamiento para el cáncer.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:
Cualquier persona con cáncer que requiera radioterapia en el abdomen está en riesgo. Esto puede abarcar personas con cáncer cervical, del cuello uterino o del recto.
Si el daño solamente dura poco tiempo, se llama enteritis aguda por radiación; pero si el daño persiste y ocasiona inflamación prolongada en el intestino, se llama enteritis crónica por radiación que causa una diarrea prolongada.
