Síndrome de Bartter - Treatment

Pérdida de potasio; Nefropatía por pérdida de sal

Tratamiento:

El síndrome de Bartter se trata manteniendo el nivel de potasio en la sangre por encima de 3.5 mEq/L y se hace siguiendo una dieta rica en potasio o tomando suplementos de este elemento.

Muchos pacientes también necesitan suplementos de sal y de magnesio, al igual que medicamentos que bloqueen la capacidad del riñón para eliminar el potasio. De igual manera, se pueden usar dosis altas de antinflamatorios no esteroides (AINES).

Expectativas (pronóstico):

El pronóstico a largo plazo para los pacientes con el síndrome de Bartter es incierto. Los bebés que presentan un retraso severo en el crecimiento pueden crecer normalmente con tratamiento. Aunque la mayoría de los pacientes permanecen bien bajo tratamiento continuo, algunos desarrollan insuficiencia renal.

Complicaciones:

La insuficiencia renal es una complicación posible.
