La hormona antidiurética (HAD) es una sustancia producida en forma natural por el hipotálamo y liberada por la hipófisis. Esta hormona controla la cantidad de agua que el cuerpo elimina.
La secreción ectópica de la hormona antidiurética es la liberación de esta hormona desde un lugar anormal dentro del cuerpo. Ectópico significa "fuera de lugar".
La causa más común de la secreción ectópica de HAD es el cáncer.
