Cetoacidosis de tipo alcohólica

Tratamiento:

El tratamiento puede involucrar la administración de líquidos (solución de sal y azúcar) por vía intravenosa. Es posible que sea necesario tomar muestras de sangre con frecuencia. Asimismo, puede recibir suplementos vitamínicos para tratar las deficiencias nutricionales causadas por el consumo excesivo de alcohol.

Las personas con esta afección son hospitalizadas, con frecuencia en la unidad de cuidados intensivos (UCI).

Pronóstico:

La atención médica oportuna mejora el pronóstico general. La gravedad del alcoholismo y la presencia de enfermedad hepática u otras complicaciones también afectan el pronóstico.

Posibles complicaciones:

Ésta puede ser una enfermedad mortal. Las complicaciones pueden abarcar:

Sangrado gastrointestinal
Pancreatitis (inflamación del páncreas)
Neumonía
