El carcinoma anaplásico de tiroides crece muy rápidamente y es un tipo invasivo de cáncer de tiroides que ataca más frecuentemente a personas mayores de 60 años. La causa se desconoce. Las pruebas de la función tiroidea suelen ser normales. El carcinoma anaplásico representa sólo el 1% de todos los cánceres tiroideos y es una enfermedad muy poco frecuente.
