Prevención:

Si la persona padece la enfermedad de Addison, debe aprender a reconocer los signos de estrés potencial que pueden causar una insuficiencia suprarrenal aguda. A la mayoría de las personas con la enfermedad de Addison se les enseña cómo aplicarse ellas mismas una inyección urgente de hidrocortisona o a aumentar sus dosis de prednisona oral en momentos de estrés.

Es importante portar siempre una tarjeta de identificación médica que diga el tipo de medicamento y la dosis adecuada que se necesita en caso de emergencia.

Nunca se debe pasar por alto el medicamento.
