Prevención:

Si usted padece la enfermedad de Addison, debe aprender a reconocer los signos de estrés potencial que pueden causar una insuficiencia suprarrenal aguda. A la mayoría de las personas con la enfermedad de Addison se les enseña cómo aplicarse ellas mismas una inyección urgente de hidrocortisona o a aumentar sus dosis de prednisona oral en momentos de estrés.

Es importante portar siempre una tarjeta de identificación médica que diga el tipo de medicamento y la dosis adecuada que usted necesita en caso de emergencia.

Nunca pase por alto el medicamento.

Igualmente, el médico puede aconsejarle que lleve puesta una escarapela de alerta médica (MedicAlert), la cual le permite a los profesionales de la salud saber acerca de su afección en caso de emergencia.
