Tiroiditis crónica (Enfermedad de Hashimoto) - Treatment

Tratamiento:

Se puede presentar una falta de hormona tiroidea. Uno puede recibir terapia sustitutiva con hormona tiroidea (levotiroxina) si el cuerpo no la está produciendo en cantidad suficiente o puede recibirla si tiene signos de insuficiencia tiroidea leve (como en el caso de hormona estimulante de la tiroides elevada). Esta afección también se conoce como hipotiroidismo subclínico.

Si no hay evidencia de deficiencia de la hormona tiroidea, simplemente se puede necesitar la observación regular por parte de un médico.

Expectativas (pronóstico):

Generalmente, el pronóstico es muy bueno. La enfermedad permanece estable por años. Si progresa lentamente a deficiencia de hormona tiroidea (hipotiroidismo), se puede tratar con terapia sustitutiva con hormona tiroidea.

Complicaciones:

Esta afección puede presentarse con otros trastornos autoinmunitarios y, en casos poco frecuentes, se puede desarrollar cáncer de tiroides.
